The New Midtown Story

Our Story

The New Midtown

How did that happen? How did the closest residential land to our essential workers become the most neglected?

We don’t have all the answers. But we decided to stop asking and start building.

From Blight to Belonging – Rebuilding the Heart of Meridian’s Medical Corridor

The Truth About Where We Started

Let’s not sugarcoat it. For decades, the Eastside of Meridian was forgotten.

Abandoned homes. Overgrown lots. Streets without sidewalks. A culture of apathy that said, “This neighborhood doesn’t matter.” Poverty and disinvestment left deep scars. And yet – this same land sits literally in the heartbeat of the Medical Corridor, less than a five-minute walk from every major hospital in the city.

The Turning Point

Three things happened at once:

  1. A private investor – someone who grew up in Meridian – began buying blighted properties along the Medical Corridor. Not to flip and leave. To stay and restore.
  2. The City of Meridian secured a $1.7 million grant from MDOT specifically for new sidewalks, pedestrian lighting, and crosswalks in this very neighborhood. Construction begins soon.
  3. Meridian Medical District Housing LLC (MMDH) acquired vacant residential lots and committed to building brand-new, affordable, smart-tech homes – the first new residential construction here in over 20 years.

That’s when we realized: this isn’t just a housing project. This is a rebirth

A New Name for a New Era

You cannot change a place by pretending the past didn’t happen. But you also cannot heal a community by keeping a name that carries decades of pain and neglect.

So we chose a new name:

The New Midtown.

Why Midtown? Because we are literally in the middle of the medical district – between the hospitals, the historic core, and the emerging revitalization zone. “Midtown” says connection, progress, and belonging. It says we are not the outskirts. We are the center.

We are not erasing history. We are writing a new chapter.

What “The New Midtown” Means Today

For Medical Professionals:

· Walking distance to work (under 5 minutes)
· New, safe, smart-tech homes – not renovated old stock)
· Affordable leases and purchase plans designed for essential workers)
· A community that respects your time and your service

For the Neighborhood:

· Blight replaced with new construction, one lot at a time
· Sidewalks, lighting, and crosswalks funded and coming
· Private investment cleaning up abandoned properties
· A culture shift from “not caring” to pride and ownership

For Meridian:

· A model for how to revitalize blighted areas without displacing the working class
· Proof that essential workers deserve better than long commutes and unsafe rentals
· A stronger, more stable medical corridor that retains talent

The Culture Shift Starts With You

We can build all the houses we want. But a neighborhood isn’t bricks and wires. It’s people who care.

That’s why every medical professional who chooses to live in The New Midtown is not just renting or buying a home. You are a pioneer. You are saying: “I belong here. This neighborhood is worth it. And I will help change it.”

We don’t need you to be a social worker or a philanthropist. We just need you to live here, walk to work, say hello to your neighbors, and take pride in your street.

That’s how culture changes. One person. One block. One home at a time.
